Learn English in Bristol

Bristol – an exciting city!

Bristol is a vibrant, multicultural city of opportunities with two world class universities. It is less than 2 hours from London, 10 minutes from Bath and combines Georgian terraces, waterfront cafes, arts centres and monuments to Britain’s maritime heritage. The city enjoys a packed programme of cultural and social events, including music and film festivals, many of which take place over the summer. Bristol airport has major international status, flying to over60 European destinations.

A well-equipped Learning Centre

The course takes place at the City of Bristol College, College Green Campus. The college has excellent teaching and learning facilities and is located in the city centre, in a thriving are near the quay. It is just a short walk from the city’s best amenities, shopping and sightseeing areas.

Stimulating Classes

The Summer Junior Programme offers English language tuition in small groups to all levels from elementary to advanced, combined with a social activity programme. In this way, you can improve your English, while learning about British life and culture, in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. The teachers use the most recent methods and materials to ensure that all classes are imaginative and stimulating. Based on a communicative teaching approach, class programmes focus on quickly developing effective skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening. Lesson times are 9:15-10:45 with 15 minutes break and 11:00-12:30, with afternoon activities.

A home from home

Students are provided with homestay accommodation which is conveniently located within easy access of the course centre. As a British Council accredited school we ensure that students have comfortable homes and we visit them regularly to ensure that our high standards are met. Students will not be accommodated in the same home with another student of the same nationality unless specifically requested. Staying in a homestay is the ideal way for young students to immerse themselves in Bristol’s daily life and will enable students to speak English in a real environment.

An active Social Programme

The activity programme is packed with exciting activities, including afternoon sports, visits to some of Bristol’s many attractions, such as the restored docks and the spectacular bridge over the Avon Gorge in Clifton. There are also excursions to places such as Bath, Oxford, London and Cheddar Gorge and the programme integrates language learning with the activities. There are many festivals in Bristol throughout the summer, including the Balloon Fiesta and Harbour Festival. These will be included in the programme wherever possible.
